The Laboratory of Dynamics of Macromolecular Assembly at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering develops and applies biophysical methods to study protein interactions and the assembly of multi-protein complexes, including fuzzy protein and protein/nucleic acid complexes that are pleomorphic and elude high resolution structure determination. In this process we have created tools that have general applications in the study of molecular interactions, and in the determination of size distributions of macromolecules and nanoparticles. Examples include software tools embedding advanced computational modeling, experimental protocols, and calibration strategies. Our goal is to disseminate these tools freely for colleagues to use and to aid their application with instructional material and workshops.
